KDK vs Fanco vs Bestar vs Alaska: which DC fan brand?
An authorised dealer's honest comparison of the four DC ceiling fan brands Singapore buyers cross-shop most, on warranty, build, light kits and price tier.

We are an authorised dealer for all four of these brands, so we have no reason to push one over another. What follows is what we actually tell people at the counter on Kelantan Lane when they ask which DC ceiling fan brand to buy.
First, the thing that matters more than brand: every fan we sell is a DC motor. That is what makes it quiet, what cuts roughly 70% off the running cost compared to an old AC fan, and what makes it eligible for the S$400 NEA Climate Voucher. Once you are inside the DC category, the brand decision comes down to warranty, finish and price tier.
The short answer
KDK
The safe Japanese pick
Best build and quietness, strongest service reputation. 1-year local warranty. Pay for engineering, not paperwork.
Fanco
Best warranty at mid price
Lifetime motor warranty, 4 years on-site and parts. The value-for-peace-of-mind pick.
Bestar
Lifetime motor, sharp price
Lifetime motor warranty, 2 years on-site and parts. Popular for whole-flat packages.
Alaska
Long cover, wide range
10 years motor, 3 years parts, 1 year on-site. Good spread from compact to large spans.
Warranty, compared honestly
Warranty is where these brands genuinely differ, and it is the one spec most buyers under-weight. A ceiling fan runs for years; the motor is the part you cannot replace yourself.
- Fanco — lifetime motor, 4 years on-site and parts.
- Bestar — lifetime motor, 2 years on-site and parts.
- Alaska — 10 years motor, 3 years parts, 1 year on-site.
- Crestar — 10 years motor, 2 years LED, 1 year on-site.
- Acorn, Youkian, Decco, Mowe — 10 years motor, 2 years parts and on-site.
- Spin — 10 years motor, 1 year parts. Point One — 10 years motor, 2 years parts.
- KDK — 1 year local warranty, backed by an established Singapore service network.
A warning that matters more than any of the numbers above: a warranty only exists if you buy from an authorised dealer. Parallel-import units sold cheaper online carry no local cover, and the brand will not service them. That is the single most common regret we hear at the counter.
How to actually choose
Pick KDK if the living-room fan is something you want to install once and never think about again, and you value quietness and finish over the warranty document.
Pick Fanco or Bestar if you want the longest motor cover for the money. For most 4-room and 5-room HDB renovations, this is the sweet spot, and it is what the majority of our whole-flat packages are built around.
Pick Acorn or Youkian when you are fitting several rooms and the budget has to stretch. Honest entry-level DC fans with real local warranty, rather than a cheap parallel import with none.
Pick Crestar, Decco, Mowe, Spin or Point One when the light kit, smart features or a specific finish is driving the decision. Crestar in particular pairs a 10-year motor with proper LED light kits.
Don't forget the voucher
Whichever brand you pick, the S$400 NEA Climate Voucher applies to DC ceiling fans, and several models land at or under S$400, which means the fan can cost you nothing at the counter. The voucher cannot be redeemed online. You scan it in person with your NRIC, which is why price comparisons against marketplace listings usually miss the point.

Which DC ceiling fan brand has the best warranty in Singapore?+
On motor cover, Fanco and Bestar lead with a lifetime motor warranty. Alaska, Crestar, Acorn, Youkian, Decco, Mowe, Spin and Point One carry 10 years on the motor. KDK's local warranty is 1 year. Warranty only applies if you buy from an authorised dealer, parallel imports are not covered.
Is KDK worth the extra money?+
KDK is the Japanese benchmark for build quality and quietness, and it holds resale reputation better than most. You pay for the engineering and the service network rather than the longest warranty on paper. If you want a fan you fit and forget for fifteen years, it's the safe pick.
Are all these brands Climate Voucher eligible?+
The DC motor models are. The NEA Climate Voucher covers DC ceiling fans only, and our range is DC across KDK, Fanco, Bestar, Alaska, Acorn, Youkian, Crestar, Decco, Mowe, Spin and Point One. Redemption is in-store with your NRIC, vouchers cannot be used online.
Which brand should I pick for a 4-room HDB?+
Most 4-room buyers land on Fanco or Bestar for the lifetime motor warranty at a mid price, Acorn or Youkian if the renovation budget is tight across several rooms, and KDK if the living room fan is the one thing they don't want to think about again. WhatsApp us your room sizes and we'll shortlist three from current stock.
