The story
31 Kelantan Lane, 1981
Hai Guan Seng opened its shutter on Kelantan Lane in 1981, supplying fans, fittings and cable to the tradespeople rebuilding Jalan Besar and Little India. It was a small counter then, and it's still a small counter now: more stock on the shelves, the same name above the door, the same row of shophouses on the same lane.
The second generation came in around the mid-2000s and brought authorised-dealer agreements with the brands contractors kept asking for: KDK, Schneider Electric, Fanco, Crestar, Hager, Philips. What hasn't changed is the handshake economics of a family trade. We hold stock, we handle warranty claims at the counter (the brand honours them; we just save you the call), and we answer the phone (and the WhatsApp).
The newer generation runs the website, the WhatsApp queue, the Climate Voucher scan terminal, and the trade-account ledger that BCA contractors, EMA Licensed Electrical Workers and ID firms come back to year after year. The shop runs on a Singapore-specific kind of trust. You can walk in, look at the actual fan you're about to spend $500 on, and walk out the same day with it on order or in your hand.
What we stock
More than fans, but mostly fans.
The shop covers most of what a Singapore HDB renovation, condo refurbishment or landed-home upgrade actually needs from an electrical retailer. Some categories are deep, like ceiling fans, where we carry over a dozen brands, and some are tighter and curated.

The largest part of what we do. Our range is all DC motor: ceiling-mount and hugger, corner fans, designer-blade and entry-tier. Authorised dealer for KDK, Fanco, Crestar, Bestar, Acorn, Alaska, Mowe, Spin, Decco and Point One.

We're on the NEA Climate Voucher whitelist as an authorised retailer, which means eligible Singapore Citizen and PR households can spend their $400 voucher on a DC ceiling fan with us in person. Bring NRIC and the voucher QR on Singpass / RedeemSG; we scan it on our NEA-whitelisted POS and the voucher settles instantly. CDC vouchers also work in-store.

A meaningful chunk of what we do is the trade business: BCA-registered contractors, EMA Licensed Electrical Workers, interior designers, renovation firms, MCSTs and event/exhibition outfits. WhatsApp us your spec list and we'll quote the project, hold stock on your name, and arrange same-day pickup at Kelantan Lane or site delivery anywhere in Singapore. First-time and project orders are paid on collection or before delivery. We extend credit only to repeat customers we know.

How long has Hai Guan Seng been operating?+
Since 1981. We opened on Kelantan Lane in the early years of Jalan Besar's electrical-trade boom and we've been at the same address, 31 Kelantan Lane #01-10/14, ever since. The shop is now run by the second generation of the founding family.
Are you an authorised dealer for the brands you sell?+
Yes, every brand on our wall is under a current Singapore distribution agreement. That means full local warranty (handled at our counter, not shipped overseas), genuine parts availability and access to the latest models when they land. Authorised brands include KDK, Fanco, Crestar, Schneider Electric, Hager, Philips and others.
Do you accept the NEA Climate Voucher?+
Yes, Hai Guan Seng is on the NEA Climate Voucher whitelist. Singapore Citizen and PR households can spend their $400 voucher in-store on any eligible DC ceiling fan. We scan the QR on Singpass / RedeemSG at the counter and the voucher settles instantly. CDC vouchers are also accepted in-store.
Do you supply contractors and renovation firms?+
Yes, the trade counter is a big part of what we do. Licensed Electrical Workers, BCA-registered contractors, ID firms, MCSTs and event companies WhatsApp us with their spec list and we quote the project, hold stock on the customer's name, and arrange same-day pickup or site delivery. First-time orders are paid on collection or before delivery (PayNow, card or cash). We extend credit only to repeat customers we know.
Do you do installation?+
Yes, for ceiling fans across HDB, condo and landed properties. Our installer team is BCA-listed and EMA Licensed, so installations are compliant with HDB blade-clearance rules and EMA wiring regulations. Installation is quoted separately from the fan and isn't covered by the Climate Voucher (the voucher applies only to the product).
